About Trevor

Trevor Martens is a writer, educator, and creative community-builder who believes everyone has a story worth telling—and the voice to tell it.

After 16 years in the classroom, Trevor left his role as a high school English teacher to pursue a lifelong dream of writing full-time and helping others do the same. Today, he's the founder of I Help You Write Things, a vibrant and supportive writing community that empowers aspiring authors to move from idea to execution with confidence, clarity, and heart.

Through workshops, writing groups, mindset-first coaching and mentorship, Trevor has helped hundreds of writers trust their inner storyteller, overcome self-doubt, and finally finish what they started. Whether you're staring at a blank page or polishing your first draft, Trevor’s practical guidance and compassionate approach meet you right where you are.

A lifelong Manitoban, Trevor teaches in-person and online writing workshops in Winnipeg and Niverville, and has worked as a professional editor for over four years, helping shape stories that resonate deeply and authentically. His superpowers include sparking creative breakthroughs, building safe spaces for self-expression, and winning ping pong matches with alarming consistency.

When he’s not writing or leading workshops, Trevor can be found exploring the outdoors, cheering on local live comedy, or enjoying time with his wife and two kids.
